In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. -Ephesians 1:7-8

Come and see what God has done, how awesome His works in man's behalf!

I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us— yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. -Isaiah 63:7

Deeds of the LORD in 2007

  • Revealed to me that He is the Great Shepherd and has led me this year in ways He never has before.
  • Taught me to pray and love His Church and desire the glory of Christ to be revealed in all things.
  • Humbled me by His holiness and taught me to fear Him and rejoice before Him in trembling.
  • Caused me to cling to the cross more than ever. He has by His grace given me an insatiable hunger for the gospel.
  • Confirmed my call to ministry.
  • Faithfully moved a spiritual mountain that I have ignored for years.
  • Led me to move into an apartment with my best friend Carly, promising that if I obeyed He would provide. I moved in knowing I wouldn’t be working much this semester. I ended up working 2 days in about a 3 month period until I took my nursing exit exam but He gracious kept his promise, and I had more than enough to pay rent, buy food, and bless others.
  • Faithful led me to the end of nursing school!!! Only by His grace will I have RN behind my name! Not only will I be a nurse but he has given me joy in what I do after fighting with it for so long. He knows what is best for us even when we think its something else.
    He has given me friends and a covenant community that fills my heart with joy because of His kindness.
  • He sent a godly man in pursuit of me!
  • He has given me a great job with some of my best friends from nursing school.
    All in all He has poured out blessing upon blessing by His gracious kindness and has faithfully kept me.

I probably could write a book on all the Lord has done but these are the highlights!

LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. –Psalm 16: 5&6
You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. –Psalm 4:7

the master fencer.

"Grace withereth without adversity. The devil is but God’s master fencer, to teach us to handle our weapons.” -Samuel Rutherford.

all scripture points to christ.

The Gospel According to Leviticus...

(For the cleansing of leprosy)

The LORD said to Moses, "These are the regulations for the diseased person at the time of his ceremonial cleansing, when he is brought to the priest: The priest is to go outside the camp and examine him. If the person has been healed of his infectious skin disease, the priest shall order that two live clean birds and some cedar wood, scarlet yarn and hyssop be brought for the one to be cleansed. Then the priest shall order that one of the birds be killed over living water in a clay pot. He is then to take the live bird and dip it, together with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn and the hyssop, into the blood of the bird that was killed over the living water. Seven times he shall sprinkle the one to be cleansed of the infectious disease and pronounce him clean. Then he is to release the live bird in the open fields. -Leviticus 14:1-7

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"[made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
-2 Corinthians 4:6-7
---
i could hardly believe how this passage gushes the gospel. jesus killed in a body of flesh on a piece of wood over the holy spirit; us with leperous hearts dipped in his blood and water and pronounced clean and released to freedom. its beautifully amazing.

trauma drama

12 hours.

i think i saw it all today at work.

a man dying and his WAILING family, a massive GI bleed, people yelling and screaming (sometimes at me), patients completely confused, 2 intubations, tons of foleys, a blood glucose level so high the machine couldn't read it, a 740 lb man, stitches, 2 assalts, one being an elderly woman who was beat up in her home unfound for over 24 hours, a case of bell's palsy...i saw how chronic drinking will completely destroy your liver and kill you. i learned how to differentiate between a stroke and bell's palsy. i saw more blood today than i cared to see (i honestly usually dont see that much). no telling what kind of infections i was exposed to today. i guess im building (or destroying) my immune system.

and my favorite case: a woman was confused and just kept repeatedly saying that she wanted a gift. her son kept reminding her of the gift of salvation purchased by Christ, his atonement and our forgiveness. amen. it was a gentle reminder amidst all the chaos of the emergency room today, that the LORD is sovereign.

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
